Moving Parts

Synopsis: 
After the death of her father, Zhenzhen leaves China to be with her brother who works in construction on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. Threatened upon her arrival; she has to pay more money to enter the country, and her brother promises to pay her debt. He unsuccessfully tries to get an advance from his employer, and Zhenzhen becomes desperate and asks her boss for the money, who agrees but makes Zhenzhen promise she will work to pay it off...

Emilie Upczak
Emilie Upczak was born in the United States. She has an MFA in Film from Vermont College of Fine Art; and is a Rotterdam Producers Lab alumni. She was former creative director of the Trinidad & Tobago film festival for ten years, and has made a number of short documentaries and created a series of experimental work where she explores bodies in action, bodies of color and the female gaze. Her filmography includes the short Knockabout (2013), and Moving Parts (2017) her feature debut.
